Mr. Rajju Shroff, a techno-entrepreneur by profession and the chairman and managing director of UPL Ltd is the founder director of Uniphos Envirotronic Pvt. Ltd., which is a Group Company of UPL Ltd.

Born in an illustrious business family of Gujarat. Mr. Shroff graduated in chemistry and started his own small scale chemical unit in a backward town of Vapi in Gujarat in the year 1969, after spending a few years with his family business located in India and U. K.

Starting from such a small beginning, if UPL Ltd today is a world renowned agrochemical company, with a turnover of over Rs. 13000 corers (US$ 2.00 Billion), it is the result of the leadership of Mr. Shroff who is a visionary, an innovator, a scientist, an institution builder and above all an excellent manager of human resources.

Apart from his core agrochemical business, he initiated, nurtured and has grown many diverse business enterprises which shaped into different group companies of UPL Ltd. Uniphos Envirotronic Pvt. Ltd. is one such far sighted initiative which he took more than two decades ago when environmental concerns were coming to the fore. He was quick to see the opportunity for establishing an instrument industry for the Indian Chemical Industry for their process and environmental monitoring applications.

As an innovator he has many firsts to his credit. He won the coveted Presidents Gold Shield from Government of India as early as 1972 for making Red Phosphorus for the first time in India. Over the years he has won more than 25 national and international awards for his outstanding achievements as a scientist, as a business leader and as a top exporter.

For his outstanding R & D efforts on pollution control and environmental protection, he won the DSIR national award – 2007 from Government of India. He has a number of intellectual property rights in the field of gas detection and agrochemical technology.

Widely acclaimed as a business leader of the chemical industry, he was the founder president of Vapi Industrial Association for many years during its formative years. He is also associated with a large number of industrial development organizations in various capacities.

On the social front he was actively involved in building many infrastructural facilities like hospitals, schools and colleges in the industrial town of Vapi and other places. GIDC Rajju Shroff Rofel Institute of Management Studies, Rajju Shroff BBA College, Sandra Shroff Nursing College, are some of them to name.
